Iphone 3G now on BSNL

Written by Itskapil Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Its celebration time for guys and girls who can't stand Airtel or Vodafone... the glittering new Iphone 3G will now be available in BSNL flavor too!

It is also fruitful news for Apple since BSNL is India's largest telecom service provider. BSNL will launch the IPhone 3G in December 2008. And it gets better - BSNL will support the gadget's 3G service right from its launch.

Airtel and Vodafone, who currently hold the license for the Iphone 3G haven't quite been using the 3G service ...simply because they don't have the requisite permission .. simply because there is hardly any foundation for the third gen network in India. Shocked?

MTNL is working day and night in the streets of Delhi and Mumbai, installing 1.5 million 3G lines. It will have tie ups with the content providers on moolah-sharing basis to spruce up its high-end services. You can expect 3G network to be ready by November.

And guess who has the rights to 3G? MTNL... and BSNL. Cheers!

And we suspect the Iphone's skyscraping prices would come down once TRAI gets its stuff together and unveils the new calling rates. Cheers again!
